| Vernon Howard |

|
(1918-1992) was an American spiritual teacher, author and philosopher.
He began his writing career as an author of humor and children's books.
In the 1960's, however, he began writing books that focused on spiritual
and psychological personal development. These writings put emphasis on
the importance, and practice, of self-awareness.

Howard did not advocate a particular philosophical or spiritual school of
thought, but drew from several different ones for his insights and teachings.
Among them were: Christian and Eastern mysticism, Gurdjieffian Fourth Way
teachings, the Gospels of the New Testament, Jungian psychology, and 19th
century American Transcendentalism.
In the 1970's, he founded the non-profit learning center New Life Foundation in
Boulder City, Nevada, where he taught spiritual development classes until his
death in 1992. The foundation, now located in Pine, Arizona, continues Howard's
legacy, via personal classes as well as the marketing of his writings and
recorded talks.
